onBoard Mobility Manager - Overview
The onBoard Mobility Manager is an indispensible tool for managing a fleet of vehicles equipped with onBoard Mobile Gateways. The onBoard Mobility Manager continuously collects information from the onBoard Mobile Gateways, analyzes the information and provides the network operations manager with an accurate view of the mobile network. You can manage your mobile network the same way you manage your corporate network!
Accessible using standard web browsers, the onBoard Mobility Manager can organize the fleet into geographical or jurisdictional groups, provide a dashboard summary of overall network health, and provide location-based communications coverage reports and detailed statistical reports that can be exported for further analysis.

Applications
Applications for onBoard Mobility Manager can help you monitor and track vehicle locations, vehicle health and diagnose and solve IT problems remotely!
onBoard Tracker
onBoard Tracker continuously collects GPS information from vehicles, and analyzes and organizes the information to depict real-time views of the location of each vehicle, including speed and direction of travel. Dispatchers can track vehicles and destinations using custom views to see aerial, bird's eye and roadmap views, and provide detailed information about destinations including access routes and structures.
onBoard Telemetry
onBoard Telemetry gives fleet management a comprehensive view of fleet health. With a network of onBoard Mobile Gateways and onBoard Telemetry, you'll know in real time how vehicles are performing, including fuel efficiency, fuel levels, operating hours, engine temperature, coolant levels, odometer readings, speed, and more. Perform maintenance on a schedule that addresses issues and maintains warranty status. Now you have the tools that will enable you to view the data, run the reports, analyze the trends and improve the operation of the fleet.
onBoard Total Reach
onBoard Total Reach allows IT administrators to remotely and securely "reach through" and administer all devices connected to onBoard Mobile Gateways. No need for crews to return to base when equipment isn't working properly. IT teams can be alerted of problems, access connected devices simply and securely, and resolve issues immediately.
onBoard Tracker
In Motion Technology’s onBoard™ Tracker enables the network administration and control center teams to better manage the company fleet of vehicles by providing valuable management information on a timely basis. Available as an application on the onBoard Mobility Manager, onBoard Tracker continuously collects real time information from vehicles, analyzes the information and provides the network operations manager with a view of their mobile network.
Location
onBoard Tracker enhances the capability of onBoard Mobility Manager by allowing you to collect more frequent location information from your vehicles. With a simple remote configuration change, location information can be collected every few seconds. Now you have a dynamic view of your fleet.
Trails
It's helpful to know where your vehicles are, but which direction are they travelling, and how quickly are they moving? The "trails" feature of onBoard Tracker enables you to see the vehicle in motion, see the direction of travel and know the speed. You'll be the first to know when a vehicle is stuck in traffic on the freeway. Trails are highlighted in different colors representing various speed ranges, and the trail length shows the distance travelled over the last five minutes.
Custom Preferences
By utilizing custom preferences, you're able to customize the way in which your vehicles are represented on the map. You may want to indicate command vehicles, names of crew members, shift or other information which will now be displayed on the map by selecting the vehicle. In addition, you can overlay traffic updates* so you'll be better able to provide the
best route given current traffic conditions. A three-dimensional view of the destination
enables crews to know where the access routes are located, saving valuable time where time
counts.
Zones
Using the "Zones" option with onBoard Tracker, operations can define geographical regions (geo-fences) on the maps. For example, a Zone may be used to efficiently distribute your fleet across an area. Zones and vehicles are then matched so email alerts can notify a manager of a “stray” vehicle, or reports can analyze which vehicles need to be moved between Zones. An emergency in an isolated location can more efficiently be served when operations knows exactly which units are in proximity and where they are located.
Views
With onBoard Tracker, you can choose how you want your fleet represented. Choose from road maps, aerial views, hybrid (combined maps and aerial view) and a bird's eye view, which
provides the perspective you need to know what type of structure, height, and access points.

onBoard Telemetry
In Motion Technology’s onBoard™ Mobility Manager enables the network administration team to better manage a fleet of light truck or passenger vehicles by providing valuable management information on a real-time basis. The onBoard Mobility Manager continuously collects information from the vehicles, analyzes the information and provides the network operations manager with an accurate view of the mobile network.
Now, the onBoard Telemetry application gives fleet management and maintenance staff a comprehensive view of vehicle status. Reduce or eliminate breakdowns in the field! With a network of onBoard Mobile Gateways and onBoard Telemetry, you'll know in real time, how vehicles are performing in the field – including gas mileage, fuel levels, operating hours, engine temperature, coolant levels, idle times, speed, fuel efficiency and more. Know how your vehicles are operating, your drivers are behaving, and perform maintenance on a schedule that addresses issues and maintains warranty status. Now you have the tools that will enable you to view the data, run the reports, and analyze the trends that will enable you to evaluate and improve the operation of the fleet.
Data Collection
Data collection is enabled by connecting a scanning tool via an OBDII (onboard diagnostic II) cable to the engine diagnostic port. The scanning tool is then connected via a custom serial cable to the onBoard Mobile Gateway. The onBoard Mobile Gateway automatically collects data for configured monitor points and uses threshold settings to notify onBoard Telemetry of changes. Data is collected whenever the vehicle is in operation, and forwarded whenever a network connection is established. Bulk data can also be stored on the gateway for detailed analysis.
Alerts
The onBoard Telemetry application allows you to set thresholds for various diagnostics, and be alerted via email if thresholds such as speeding, Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) or low voltage are triggered.
Performance Reports
The onBoard Mobility Manager is your access to telemetry information, and you can view fleet level, location-based views of the diagnostic data the same way you view your network of gateways. The data can be analyzed in real-time using the integrated query and reporting capabilities, graphed to display trends, and exported into spreadsheets for further analysis. Set thresholds for various diagnostics and be notified when thresholds are exceeded. There's no need for field crews to collect and report mileage information after each shift. You'll know that at any given time. Prevent unauthorized usage by viewing when vehicles are driven outside regular hours or areas, and ompare vehicle odometer to GPS distance.

onBoard Total Reach
In Motion Technology’s onBoard Mobility Manager enables operations staff, fleet management and IT personnel to have an unprecedented view of their overall mobile network, and to manage the network remotely.
The mobile work environment is being proliferated with wireless equipment, and while all this equipment increases productivity and reduces costs, it creates new complexities for IT support teams. After all, this network is "moving". When field crews run into difficulty with laptops, cameras and other equipment, they're forced to return to the depot for maintenance. That might work if you're working close to a base that can provide support, but what if the depot is 400 miles away, and you don't have plans to return there for days?
Off the shelf solutions enable IT departments to tunnel into laptops only, and they can be costly. They also involve internet access to a server, which can be a target for hackers.
Now, In Motion Technology's onBoard Total Reach enables the IT team to remotely and securely "reach through" and administer all communications devices connected to onBoard Mobile Gateways from any remote location.
Download Total Reach Datasheet
The onBoard Total Reach uses Virtual Network Computing (VNC) software, and allows you to quickly isolate the gateway onboard the vehicle, identify the devices that are connected, and establish an encrypted tunnel through a firewall and activate a remote session. Devices running Windows, Mac, Linux, plus mobile versions such as Windows Mobile, Windows CE, Palm, Symbian, iPhone, and others, can be accessed.
